Welcome to our new Tuesdays e-newsletter

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

Dear friends and supporters of La Posada Providencia,In an effort to offer you the news, events, stories and updates about our shelter in the most efficient manner, we are excited to announce our redesigned Tuesdays in Texas e-newsletter!The redesign comes as we seek ways to reach our audiences with a cleaner and clearer approach. Our new e-newsletter was set up so it can be more easily read on smartphones and tablet devices. The job is not over, however. We would like you to give us any feedback on how we can better reach you with information that matters to you so we can continue to improve our communications strategy.

If you have ever volunteered, donated, or participated in any way with our shelter, we invite you to share your stories with us.

Please contact Communications Specialist Carlos Restrepo at crestrepo@lpp-room.org with any feedback or story ideas.

Thank you for staying in touch with us and for allowing us to keep you up to date on how we strive to give welcome the stranger, and make a difference.

Drive 4UR Community

(Harlingen, Texas) La Posada Providencia wants to extend its gratitude to two Harlingen organizations who have come together to help support our shelter.

The Harlingen Sunburst Rotary Club and  Boggus Ford Harlingen have partnered to support the construction of a pavilion for La Posada with a fun and exciting fundraiser: The Drive 4UR Community Car Show and Car Test Drive.

On Saturday, July 11, there will be a car show in which individuals will have the opportunity to take a free test-drive of Boggus Ford’s vehicles. The Ford Motor Company will donate $20 for each test-drive. Three hundred drivers will be needed to meet the $6,000 donation goal.

Drive 4UR Community will feature an antique, collectible, 1990s-and-older car show; live music; and complimentary coffee and donuts.

“It is moving to see these two civic and business groups from Harlingen come together to benefit our community,” said La Posada Program Director Sister Zita Telkamp, CDP. “Events like these prove how much the Valley-wide community cares about its neighbors and the clients we serve.”

When: Saturday, July 11, 8:30 am – 4 pm

Where: Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church large parking lots – 2120 Ed Carey Dr. (located next to Valley Baptist Hospital area and across from the Heart Clinic).

FREE Community event: No purchase is necessary. Drivers must be 18 years of age or older with a valid Driver’s License and valid automobile insurance. Limit one donation per household.

“We invite the San Benito, Harlingen, and Valley-wide citizens to take the wheel, support our shelter, and show our community how great things happen when we all come together,” Sister Zita said.
