We did it! Hands & Hearts Brunch a Success! Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016
(From left) Brunch Committee Member Carl Eads and La Posada’s Program Director, Sister Zita Telkamp, CDP, pose together during the 2016 Hands & Hearts annual fundraiser.
Our 2016 Hands & Hearts Brunch and Auction showed La Posada Providencia’s board, staff, volunteers and clients how far reaching and committed the support is to “Welcoming the Stranger and Making a Difference” in our community.
More than 300 supporters attended our annual brunch, held Saturday, Feb. 6, at La Sierra Event Center, in Harlingen.
“We are moved and grateful for the great turn out at our event,” said Program Director Sister Zita Telkamp, CDP. “Year after year, we touch more lives and create more hope for the hundreds of men, women, children and families who come through our doors. We couldn’t do it without you.”
Although La Posada’s staff is still processing the results of the fundraiser, which we will share with you later through this e-newsletter, we didn’t want to wait to show our appreciation to all of those who made this event possible.
A huge thank you to our sponsors and donors: Your monetary and in-kind donations made it possible for us to host an event worthy of this wonderful community.
A special thank you to our Board of Directors and Brunch Committee: Your stewardship and wisdom continue to take La Posada to new heights, enabling us to help more people every day.
Finally, thank you to all of you who attended our event. We hoped you enjoyed yourselves and learned something new about La Posada’s mission and vision.
Thank you again, for every one of you who brought their hands and hearts together to help us welcome the stranger.
La Posada Providencia, founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence, is a ministry for people in crisis from around the world, who are seeking legal refuge in this country. The shelter staff provides a safe and welcoming home; mentors to promote self-sufficiency and cultural integration; and imparts values which witness God’s Providence in our world.
