Sister Zita Wins Final Online Vote for 2013 Lumen Christi Award!

La Posada Providencia’s Program Director Sister Zita Telkamp, CDP won the final popular online vote for the 2013 Lumen Christi Award—and we want to say thank you for voting, asking your friends and family to vote and for all of your messages in support of Sister Zita, La Posada and the Diocese of Brownsville! A massive outpouring of support from the Valley, the nation, and the world (as far away as Asia, Africa, and Central and South America!) in the final 24 hours of voting brought in nearly 1,000 votes for Sister Zita. Her first place finish in the final popular vote could not have happened without YOUR energy, vision, and faith in our mission!

Your energetic participation in the online voting process has been crucial. Catholic Extension’s Lumen Christi Award panel judges will now review information about each finalist and the results of the popular support shown in online voting. The judges will give each finalist a composite score to help decide the 2013 Lumen Christi Award recipient. If she is selected as the recipient of the Lumen Christi Award, Sister Zita will receive $25,000 for La Posada’s ministry and the Diocese of Brownsville will also receive $25,000 for its ministries, for a total of $50,000!
