More Birthdays And Best Wishes To Intern Cindy Bernal

We Do Love Birthdays!

On May 7, we celebrated La Posada Client Mentor Sister Thérèse Cunningham’s birthday; it was a lovely and cheerful luncheon celebration, one fitting the honoree.  La Posada Food Specialist Angel Torres prepared her favorite meal, which was fajita tacos. Later in the day time was made for socializing, ice cream and cake.  Clients, volunteers and staff all had a great time.

Coincidentally, Sister Thérèse shared her birthday celebration with one of our much appreciated volunteers, John Olivo, whose birthday was also May 7.  John has been volunteering at La Posada for more than a year.  Including John in the celebration made for quite a merry time.

We Say Good Bye and Best of Luck
to Intern Cindy Bernal

On Thursday, May 9, we said farewell to Cindy Bernal who, for the past four months, has worked for La Posada as an intern averaging 30 hours per week. Cindy is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Former La Posada employee and member of La Posada’s Advancement Committee, Adriana Garcia, made the collaboration possible when deciding to be Cindy’s field instructor. In addition to her studies, Cindy works full-time at ProBAR as a Supervising Shelter Services Coordinator. Cindy possesses extensive experience working as a paralegal and a case manager for unaccompanied immigrant children.

Our collaboration with Cindy was a blessing; she left her mark and touched the lives of staff and clients alike. Cindy plans to attend law school after completing her Master’s degree; we know we will be hearing more from her and we wish her all the success in the world.
