Meet Sister Dympna

Meet Sister Dympna

In September 2020, after the retirement of Sisters Zita and Margaret, La Posada welcomed Sister Dympna Clarke. Sister Dympna is a member of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate (SHSp), and is a long-term volunteer at La Posada. Sister Dympna and La Posada client mentor, Sister Thérèse Cunningham, are longtime friends, having attended high school together in Ireland, and later joined the Sisters of the Holy Spirit. Sister Dympna studied and received a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and later received a Master’s in Education Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Sister Dympna dedicated 17 years as a school principal in Texas and most of her life in an educational setting.

Sister Dympna helps with ESL & Life Skills, laundry and occasional cooking. Sister Dympna says what she likes most about La Posada is the model of welcoming the stranger. She would like everyone to know that the clients we serve at La Posada are good people, looking for a safe place to live and raise their families. Fun facts about Sister Dympna – her favorite food, Mexican, takes her coffee with cream and enjoys a nice walk and a good movie. Sister is a valued addition to our La Posada family, and we appreciate all her hard work and her gentle presence.
