Dear La Posada staff, volunteers and supporters,My name is Adriana Garcia and I want to introduce myself as the new Volunteer Coordinator for La Posada Providencia. I am very excited to be part of La Posada’s team. I look forward to working with all the volunteers that come to share their many skills and talents with our shelter.
I first became involved with La Posada as an intern, in 2013, while completing my graduate degree in social work from the University of Texas Pan-American. After completing my internship and obtaining my Masters of Science in social work, I went on to work for International Educational Services in Los Fresnos, Texas, where I worked as a Case Manager for unaccompanied immigrant children from Central America.
The issue of immigration has always been dear to me because both my parents and their families came to the United States in search of a better life. I believe it takes courage, resilience and faith to make the journey from one’s home country to the U.S. in search of that better life.
I enjoy working with the clients at La Posada because they possess a type of tenacity that is admirable. I appreciate their diversity and all the new things they have taught me and will continue to teach me. I look forward to working with all the current and the new volunteers to come, to continue to help enrich La Posada and the lives of every client.
