La Posada is Ready to Compost Again

La Posada is Ready to Compost Again

At La Posada, we strive to lead by example and encourage our guests to learn environmentally friendly practices. Client Mentor Sister Thérèse Cunningham teaches care for the Earth by recycling organic waste like food scraps and garden clippings. As part of La Posada’s Life Skills, guests learn about composting and the mutual benefits for humankind and our planet.

Recently, La Posada began working on a few shelter improvements including a septic tank upgrade. Components of the project required the compost area to be taken apart and temporarily moved to a different area of the shelter.  With the support and funding of the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation, we were able to complete the septic tank upgrade. Gradually, staff and guests have begun reconstructing the compost area with a few enhancements.

We’re excited to have everything back in its place and eager to start composting again!
