La Posada Guest Gives Back with Workshop for Staff

This past week, La Posada Providencia staff participated in a Motivational and Social Media workshop. The presenter, Esteban Garza, was knowledgeable and radiated fervent energy throughout his presentation. Esteban talked about the difference between a group and a team. He described the characteristics of a high-performance team and encouraged developing the qualities that make up a high-performance team. He also elaborated on social media tips and skills. Esteban graduated from Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacin University, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, his home country, with a degree in Marketing and Public Relations. All the staff at La Posada Providencia admired his resilience and ability to remain optimistic regardless of the circumstances of his arrival.

Esteban arrived at La Posada Providencia in June. We welcomed him after he endured nearly five months in adult detention. His migration journey began in 2015, fleeing political persecution that continued through 2019 while being sought through other countries before making it to the United States – “Era vida o muerte”- it was either life or death. Esteban suffered through many threats, violence, torture, and being kidnapped. During a recent interview, Esteban reminisced about his family and friends and talked about the difficulty of leaving everyone behind. He was especially appreciative of his time at La Posada and the difference we made for him.

“La Posada provided tranquility, security, emotional stability, and staff support from people who are committed to their mission’s work.” He also expressed gratitude for having many immediate needs met like medical attention, clothes, shoes, hygiene items, logistics and compared the care to one that a parent would give. Like many, Esteban was welcomed and loved during his time at La Posada and it is because of every single one of our supporters we can accomplish our mission to serve.
