San Benito, Texas, December 18, 2018 – It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the Board of Directors of La Posada Providencia announces Andi Atkinson’s departure as executive director of La Posada Providencia effective November 23, 2018. Although Andi was with La Posada Providencia for a short period, she played a critical role in the development and success of the organization.
“The Board of Directors and staff will miss her and her inspiring leadership; we wish her a successful future as she progresses in her career,” said La Posada Board Chair, Richard Kirk, Ed.D.
La Posada, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Divine Providence, has offered emergency shelter services to immigrants and asylum seekers in the Rio Grande Valley for the past 29 years.
Over the next few months the organization will be conducting a search for a new executive director. A job opening announcement for the executive director position will be forthcoming.
The Board appointed Magda Bolland as interim executive director effective December 6, 2018. Magda has served as La Posada’s grants compliance and business manager since 2017.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration. She is deeply committed to the mission of La Posada and has been instrumental in conducting the day-to-day operations of the shelter. It is because of her business knowledge and experience and her in-depth familiarity with the mission of La Posada, that the Board enthusiastically appointed her as interim executive director.
La Posada Providencia will continue to provide services to its target population and continue to seek supportive services from community stakeholders. Your continued support of La Posada Providencia’s clients will be greatly appreciated as we continue to fulfill our mission of “Welcoming the Stranger.”
