First Baby of the Year at La Posada

First Baby of the Year at La Posada

Meet Isabella, the first baby born this year to a mom in La Posada’s care.  The baby was born January 18 at 9:55 a.m. weighing 6 lbs. 5 oz. Her mother named her after her grandmother. Isabella has an older brother who is 5 years old and has been attending
La Posada’s onsite ESL classes every day. He has made steady improvement in the classroom and achieved positive strides in behavior since first arriving at La Posada.

Living in a shelter can be trying for adults, and for the little ones it can be especially trying. Our youngest clients, just as all youngsters, need to burn off their energy. Fortunately, the shelter offers space and play areas that can be accessed to help burn that energy in positive ways. That combined with a caring and nurturing staff is a perfect combination for success.

Gourmet Delight!

A ‘‘Gourmet Dining Experience’’ was recently hosted at La Posada. It was the fulfillment of a live auction item won at our 2018 Hands and Hearts Brunch.
It took some time to finally book the date due to conflicting schedules and the large volume of clients and visitors La Posada has received this past year. However, it appears the dining experience was worth the wait! The delicious meal was prepared and served by Chef Sister Zita Telkamp (alias La Posada Program Director) & Chef Carl Eads (a professional chef).
