A New Staff Member Joins as an Advocate for Children

In late October, Milagros Carrera joined La Posada Providencia to support the Case Management department as Case Manager I/ Child Coordinator. Her role is an initiative from our partnership with Save the Children and their mission to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm. Her passion to protect, serve and make a difference in children’s lives is evident to other staff members.

Milagros is an RGV native from Mercedes, Texas. She attended South Texas College in Weslaco, Texas, and earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice. She brings with her many years of experience working with youth and immigration organizations, like Catholic Charities and Southwest Keys. Currently, she continues to serve as a Juvenile Probation volunteer and mentors first-time youth offenders.

Milagros enjoys listening to Christian music, fishing at Arroyo City in the early mornings, and loves Texas BBQ- grilled chicken, beef fajitas & sausage. In a recent interview, Milagros stated she aspires to continue her education and earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley.
