With no end in sight to the overwhelming influx of immigrants from Central America, one shelter, La Posada Providencia in San Benito, has found a source of temporary relief in a $25,000 grant.
The gift was awarded by the John G. and Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation based in Corpus Christ. Their grants are reserved for Texas organizations that aim to break cycles of poverty through education and faith, according to the foundation’s website.
