On Friday, September 18, 2020, three clients from La Posada accompanied by Sister Thérèse Cunningham, La Posada’s Client Mentor, went on a field trip to the Recycling Center in Harlingen, in order to further educate them and reinforce the importance of recycling as a way of showing our care of the Earth.

On the following day, September 19, La Posada’s commitment to caring for and bettering the Earth joined forces with people in 180 countries for World Cleanup Day. According to www.worldcleanupday.org, World Cleanup Day is a day where people and groups around the globe take a stand against the problem of global trash by cleaning up waste. This was the worlds’ largest event held in 2020, and La Posada did its part by teaching the clients how to sort and prepare to recycle before it goes to the recycling center. Sister Thérèse is in charge of composting and recycling at La Posada. Her commitment to educating clients on the importance of composting and its processes has inspired many clients to work with her in composting tasks and procedures.
