Honoring Mothers

Honoring Mothers

Mother’s Day weekend La Posada was pleased to receive a visit from Chad Bresson, lead Pastor for The Table of Los Fresnos – St. Paul Lutheran Church.  He came to deliver flowers to every mother in the shelter –  clients, volunteers and staff.
Chad has been part of the St. Paul team for over a year. His main focus is planting and launching a new church in the Los Fresnos community of the Rio Grande Valley.

St. Paul is a community of faith that shares and proclaims the love of Jesus. For more than 90 years, St. Paul has been part of the Harlingen, Texas community and continues to be a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can find friendship, forgiveness, and faith.

All mothers share a common bond that comes from the love they have and care they give their children. Being honored as a mother is an unexpected, yet appreciated gift.
Thank you Pastor Chad and The Table of Los Fresnos – St. Paul Lutheran Church.

A Welcome Respite at the Beach

On May 17, volunteers Daniel and Rebekah Behrens and their daughter took our clients to South Padre Island for a recreational break. For some clients, a trip to the beach was a first time experience. Hence, the visit was an unexpected treat. Clients attending were from Central America and Africa.

Daniel is a Deacon with the Anglican Church. Currently, he is part of Trinity on the Border, a chapel and outreach ministry working along the South Texas/Mexico border. He and his wife Rebekah are regular La Posada volunteers teaching ESL; Daniel concentrates on teaching adults in the classroom, and Rebekah works with and teaches our children.

We are grateful to the Behrens family for creating a joyful and relaxing respite
for our clients.
