This past week at La Posada, long-term clients went on a relaxing field trip, and enjoyed a day at South Padre Island (SPI). Long-term clients are guests that stay at La Posada more than 8 days until a sponsor is identified or the client has no sponsor and has committed to pursue their asylum case locally. If a client does not have a sponsor, La Posada will host their stay, guiding and supporting them through a well-paced, successful, resettlement journey. We try our best to integrate Rio Grande Valley (RGV) culture with planned outings or field trips.
This past year has been a difficult time not just at La Posada but also around the world due to COVID-19. When we announced a field trip, the long-term clients expressed eagerness to explore and have fun under the sun. The day’s activities included an exciting boat tour, a dolphin watch, a picnic at the beach, water fun, and ended with a visit to the National Park Sand Dunes. Having the opportunity to participate in this enjoyable day left everyone feeling refreshed and relaxed. La Posada would like to send a warm, heartfelt thank you to Cindy Johnson for collaborating with El Valle District of the United Methodist Church to sponsor this wonderful event.
