La Posada frequently celebrates the triumphal experiences of our clients. Recently, La Posada celebrated one such occasion with one of our long-term clients of more than seven months. She reunited with family in The United States after being separated from her mother. She fled gang violence in her home country of Guatemala, where organized gangs have taken over much of the governing infrastructure of her town. She did not want to join a gang, but she knew if she failed to join, her life would be threatened.
Throughout her time at La Posada, our client remained hopeful, determined, and joyful. She is a hard worker who would frequently help clean the kitchen after meals. She learned valuable skills while at La Posada from the staff, such as Angel, our food specialist, and Sister Thérèse, our client mentor. Throughout the week, she would learn English and learn how to bake various desserts, such as a variety of cookies, brownies, and pies. In the afternoons, she and Sister Thérèse would walk up and down the driveway together. We are so excited for her to continue her journey with her family. Congratulations!
