Because of COVID-19, people and groups wanting to serve are finding new and unique ways of doing so. Current times are unprecedented, so many people are using their creativity to connect and serve. Because of canceled summer mission trips, students from Pflugerville First United Methodist Church in Pflugerville, TX found a new way to help others virtually.

Nine students ages, 11-17 years old, and three adults, from Pflugerville First United Methodist Church, created bags as their summer mission project. Various church members and scouts helped cut the fabric for these bags the week before Mission Week. The students were in Zoom meetings for several days learning how to use sewing machines and how to make the bags. These donated bags are given to the clients at La Posada Providencia before they leave the shelter. These bags are perfect for storing essentials as clients travel to their resettlement locations.

In addition to creating these bags, the students were also a part of daily devotionals led by members of their church. Their virtual Mission Week was the result of creativity, collaboration, and hard work. We are thankful for their willingness to serve and help the clients here at La Posada Providencia.
