To seek asylum in a new country is a brave, courageous, and life-changing decision. This decision does not come without sacrifice, obstacles, and often many unforeseen circumstances. To leave your home in fear of your life with an uncertainty of what is to come is nothing short of brave, yet thousands of people are forced to do it each year. It is an honor for La Posada Providencia to highlight one of our clients’ amazing success stories after leaving the shelter and beginning his new life.
Recently, La Posada witnessed the great success of one of its former clients. After experiencing the unimaginable and being attacked for political reasons in Cuba, he was quickly forced to leave his home and sense of familiarity and seek refuge in another country. After spending several months in Pennsylvania, he was relocated to La Posada Providencia, and in less than six months, he got a job as a mechanic working full time, saved his money, bought a pickup truck, and moved into his own apartment. Despite experiencing incredibly difficult and scary circumstances, our client was able to persevere and gain his asylum.
La Posada is thankful for the leadership that this client displayed during the COVID-19 shelter shut down. Shelter operations ran smoothly because of his leadership. We admire this client’s bravery, passion, and diligence. Congratulations!
