As part of La Posada Providencia’s commitment to bettering and taking care of the earth, Client Mentor, Sister Thérèse Cunningham, SHSp, and our guests have created a new compost station behind the commons building, Casa Belen. The compost station, which was built by one of our guests in roughly two weeks, consists of two compost trenches, two composters, and a new bin with two compartments. This new area is designed to further La Posada’s dedication to protecting the earth. Composting prevents sending waste to the landfill where it creates methane gas.
Sister Thérèse and all of us at La Posada would like to thank the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois for their grant that enabled us to build the new compost bin and station. We also appreciate the skilled work performed by one of our guests to make the project come to fruition. The new compost bin and station are state of the art, and we look forward to using it for years to come.
