In countries all around the world, the forces of kindness united around Giving Tuesday, an initiative set to mirror the spending sprees of Black Friday and Cyber Monday – with a philanthropic twist.
Every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, many will set this day apart to give back to those who need it most during the holiday season.
Here’s how you can join the movement from the convenience of your home.
Today, you may see friends and family posting statuses on social media sites with the #GivingTuesday hashtag. These statuses will be promoting a particular charity, encouraging others to donate time or money to their choice of charity.
Head over to your Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites and tell everyone you know about La Posada using the #GivingTuesday hashtag.
You can ask them to donate, volunteer, or simply raise awareness of our cause.
Sample status:
“Today is #GivingTuesday! If you are looking for a great organization to donate to today, make sure to consider La Posada. Find out more about them or donate at lppshelterl.org/waystogive.”
It’s that simple. Spread the word!
If you have any questions, contact Carlos Restrepo at 314.209.9181 or via email at crestrepo@lpp-room.org.
Thank you for keeping the homeless in our community in your thoughts and prayers during this season.
