La Posada’s Sister Margaret recognize by hometown school
Tuesday, July 28, 2015
Earlier this year, La Posada Providencia’s own Sister Margaret Mertens, CDP, traveled back to her hometown of Wardsville, Missouri, where her alma mater had a surprise waiting for her.
Sister Margaret was recognized by the students of her former school, St. Stanislaus, with a “Distinguished Graduate” award.
A local newspaper, The Catholic Missourian, wrote a story about Sister Margaret’s award and her life of service to the church.
“It was very humbling and touching what the principal and teachers were saying about me,” Sister Margaret said in The Catholic Missourian’s story. “The students did a special project to raise money to send to my ministry in Texas also. The whole event was very moving.”
We would like to congratulate Sister Margaret for this recognition, as well as thank the students of St. Stanislaus School and the staff of The Catholic Missourian for helping us spread the word about our mission to Welcome the Stranger and Make a Difference.
